Frequently Asked Questions
What happens at these meetings?
Each week we have structured introductions/networking/updates from the attendees, then a short educational program and then more schmoozing and kvetching until they throw us out.
Do I have to be a member of your temple? Do I have to be Jewish?
No! We are jointly promoting this through all the Conejo congregations to get the word out. There is nothing overtly "Jewish" about the group, just organized and hosted by Adat Elohim.
Do I have to come every week?
The idea is to make it a regular part of your routine during your job-hunt, so we encourage you to come weekly and participate, but you are not required to attend and there is no "membership." Come when you can.
What should I wear?
Business casual, please.
What should I bring?
A good attitude. A notebook, some copies of your resume.
What does it cost?
Nothing. If you want to contribute to the coffee and bagel fund, you can drop a dollar in the hat.
Who organizes this?
Our group is sponsored by Temple Adat Elohim and has been organized by congregant Deborah Gallant, a local business coach. (Check her out at one of her websites: www.webpowertools.com, www.lifeworkcatalyst.com, www.soloentrepreneurs.com) She frequently coaches and teaches on subjects related to careers, transitions, networking and small business. As the group gains momentum, hopefully more people will come forward to help plan and run it!
Can I come share a business opportunity with the group?
No. The group does NOT want to hear from multi-level marketers with commission-based opportunities. If you are a recruiter and you have jobs open, you are welcome. Sales pitches are NOT welcome, sorry.
