Position Description:
The selected person will teach lecture and lab courses for small groups of undergraduate pre-professional majors. This course meets MW 6-9 p.m. each semester.
Requirements:
PhD in Organic Chemistry with teaching experience in this discipline. Recent post-doc or ABD status students with appropriate Masters degree will be considered. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen (we cannot accept or sponsor visa holders). Excellent command of spoken and written English is an absolute requirement for this position.

ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Calavo Growers, Inc. (NASDAQ – CVGW) is headquartered in Southern California and is the leading marketer of fresh and processed avocados throughout the world. Highly regarded for the quality and strength of our brand, we market fresh and processed products to retail, wholesale, restaurant and institutional foodservice customers. We have several facilities located throughout California and the United States as well as Uruapan, Michoacan, Mexico.
We are actively seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to monitor our facilities in Uruapan (position will be based out of Santa Paula, CA and require monthly travel to Mexico). The right candidate will possess the education and experience in order to oversee and be responsible for the accuracy and timely reporting of all accounting records for our subsidiaries in Mexico including, but not limited to, fresh avocado inventory (packed and unpacked), processed inventories of raw materials and finished goods and cost and grower accounting. Will work closely with operations managers on managing production costs as well as general and administrative costs to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
Requirements for this position are a BA degree (MBA preferred) in accounting/finance, CPA certification (preferred), 5+ years experience in a similar position, prior experience in both public and corporate accounting environments, account reconciliation and financial analysis, must have working knowledge of Mexican statutory reporting requirements, including IVA reporting and application for refunds, working knowledge of US GAAP, working understanding of Sarbanes Oxley and internal controls, experience with multi unit environment. Must be fluent in English and Spanish both verbally and in writing.
The right candidate will possess the ability to meet goals, objectives and deadlines, be able to interact, influence and engage support at many levels and have unquestionable integrity and ethics. This position will require travel each month to Mexico. The Assistant Controller position will report to the Corporate Controller in the US.
Our Santa Paula headquarters location is easily commutable from any of the Ventura County beach communities or the northwestern Los Angeles communities of Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village. These are very desirable communities for families and singles offering upscale suburban living with lots of open space but close to the Los Angeles major metro.
